Luxor is typical of Las Vegas Hotels. Very Big, lineups for everything including check in and out. The parking lot for self park is a very long way from the registration desk. This is too far to haul luggage around.
The food in their buffet is less than spectacular and is very ordinary. I waited 5 minutes on hold to speak to the front desk from my room. I got the feeling I was being processed instead of welcomed upon arrival. We were not allowed to unload luggage at the front door unless we took valet parking. That meant for self park we walked about a kilometer from the offsite parking garage to the registration desk.
If you want to gamble this is your place, just join the smokers in the casino and enjoy. Why do they still allow smoking in casinos? At the bar a 4 oz glass. We stayed here for a few days in February and needless to say it was incredible. The sheer size of the building is amazing but to stand inside the Luxor and look up at all the different hotel room floors is just crazy. There was a rather long queue for checking in, however the receptionist was very polite and helpful, then when we got to the rooms we weren't disappointed.
Huge sizes and exceptionally spacious, not to mention the beds were soooo comfy!! Breakfast in The Buffet restaurant is certainly worth the money ($19.99 excluding tax), and includes all you can eat food and drink from a huge variety of options.
Can't wait to visit Vegas again and would definitely stay here again. I wasn't expecting a lot from a hotel/casino built in 1993, but Luxor succeeded. The check in line was long but someone went through the crowd to get people where they needed to be quickly. They are always glad to upgrade you as I saw in the signs, the desk mats, and the employees. I would highly recommend a room in the renovated Towers; you can tell they were redone recently. For food, I would recommend any restaurant in the connected Shoppes at Mandalay (all part of the MGM family).
And don't forget to join the player's club as the points really add up.
